Does Epicenter Give More Bass?

Epicenter is the small device that recreates the lowest frequencies to the natural level. It helps to overcome the problem of lower frequencies not being delivered or being distorted on car speakers.

When it comes to more bass, it gives more bass, but its amount depends on the music type, and the bass improvement is most noticeable in older tracks, especially those compressed to the mp3 format.

The Epicenter, however, is only part of the whole car audio system. It will not create incredible bass on its own without support from the properly installed amplifier with correctly set crossovers and subwoofer.

How Do You Wire an Epicenter?

Wiring the Epicenter is straightforward, and there are two main areas you have to focus on.

The first one is the power that includes the positive, ground, and remote wires. Before you start, make sure to disconnect the negative terminal of your battery before installing The Epicenter, otherwise, it can be damaged.


To connect positive wire, you have to use either 18 or 16AWG wire and insert it into the “Power.” labeled connector.

The Epicenter is fused at 1 amp, and ideally, if it can be powered directly from the car battery.

Ground Connection

Use the same gauge wire as for the +12V, and run it from the connector terminal marked “Ground” on The Epicenter to the battery’s negative terminal, or a good ground location used, for example, by the amplifier.

One thing to remember is that the original factory head unit ground is not a good ground for the Epicenter, and it may cause the whining noise.


Connect a 22 to 18 gauge wire from the head unit’s remote turn-on to the “Remote In” connector on The Epicenter.

When the electrical connections are complete, you may reconnect the negative terminal to your battery.

With the power wiring connected, the next step is to connect the RCA signal wires from the back of the stereo to the Epicenter.

What Do Wide and Sweep Mean on an Epicenter?

The “sweep” and the “width” are added to the Epicenter because every vehicle has different acoustic and bass characteristics.

Adjusting these controls allows you to fine-tune the Epicenter’s functionality and optimize performance individually to the vehicle type, your needs, and the music type.

The sweep control allows you to choose the center frequency, which is mainly affected by the subwoofer design, and it varies from 27 Hertz up to 63 Hertz.

The “width” allows you to control the shape of the filter around the centered sweep frequency. In other words, it makes boosted frequencies broader or narrower around the primary frequency selected by “sweep.”

How Do You Connect the Equalizer to the Epicenter?

In most car audio systems, the equalizer in the car audio is installed right after the stereo and receives all channels’ input signals.

The installation is different when you use the Epicenter because it has to receive the signals directly from the source and then send it further to the equalizer.

Remember that the Epicenter must receive as much signal as possible. Although in some professional car audio installations, you can install it behind the signal processor, in the vast majority, its signal source has to be a car stereo.
