Although putting speakers on a lawnmower may sound like a crazy idea, knowing how loud lawn movers can be, actually it is not. Not long ago, a friend of mine added Bluetooth speakers to his push lawnmower, so I decided to write an article about lawnmower speakers.
Installing speakers for lawn mowers is straightforward because most of them will be Bluetooth speakers or amplified soundboards. The location of the speakers will depend on whether it is a walk lawnmower or riding lawnmower. After installation, you have to pair the speakers with your cellphone, and you are ready to enjoy the rest of your workday.
Different speakers can be used for electrical lawnmowers and different for those with petrol engines. These last ones are much louder, so in some extreme cases, you will do better using Bluetooth headphones instead of speakers.

Let’s go through the types of speakers for different lawn mowers and how to install each of them.
Which speakers are suitable for lawn mowers?
The speakers’ selection for the lawnmowers depends on the machine’s type, but in the majority of cases, they will be Bluetooth speakers that do not require radio and can be driven directly from your phone.
The easiest speakers are powered by the battery and placed on the handles or push bars.
If you want to install speakers permanently, the good ones that are worth considering are soundbars with included amplifiers. Installing an amplified soundbar on the lawnmower requires a connection to the battery, which you will have to charge after each use.
Although you can install speakers on any lawnmower, the best results you will have with electric rather than petrol models, and it does not matter if your mower is wired or cordless, it is just a matter of surrounding noise.
Wet Sounds Stealth 6 Ultra HD soundbar
The best quality and loudness level I have found, is the Wet Sounds Stealth 6 Ultra HD soundbar. This 200W soundbar initially designed for boats and ATVs has incredible loudness that can play over any engine noise.
Remember, marine speakers, are not just waterproof. They have to be loud because they play in an open environment, and that means they deal with wind and all sorts of other surrounding noises.
Lawnmowers are no different. They also create a lot of noise, especially from their petrol engines, so speakers that have to be installed need to be loud.
I tried to find different soundbars that would be able to play loud and clear, but in this small size, Wet Sounds Stealth takes the first place, also when taking into consideration mounting possibilities.
The good thing is, you can install this soundbar today because it is available on Amazon. Click this link to check the most current price.
From the several models I checked, Stealth 6 Ultra HD soundbar is my favorite pick, and let me tell you why.
When looking at this small bar, you may think this is a toy. Well, it is not. It is an outstanding set of four full-range speakers and two titanium tweeters packed together in the box with an amplifier.
It can pair with your mobile phone in seconds, but it has to be powered from the 12V battery, so it will not be the best choice for any lawnmowers without the batteries.
Wet Sound Stealth 6 provides fantastic highs, and crystal clear mid-range sounds louder than any lawnmower. This soundbar is a genuinely high-performance system with a robust waterproof design and durable, high-quality speakers.
The only weak thing I noticed is lack of deep bass, but hey, this is a soundbar and not a 10″ subwoofer in a sealed enclosure.
NOAM NUTV4 Stereo System
When you would instead install separate speakers on your lawnmower, NOAM NUTV4 speakers offer impressive sound quality.
The complete system comes together with an amplifier that has to be powered from a 12V battery, but speakers are worth the installation effort. If you would like to try them, click this link and check the latest price on Amazon.
Mounting and removing these speakers from the bars is straightforward, but you do not want to go back and forth with the installation process, especially wires from the battery.
Speakers fit bars with a diameter from 1.5″ to 2″, so if bars in your lawnmower are bigger than that, speakers will not fit.
I was surprised by the quality of the Bluetooth connection. When I went home with my phone in my pocket, I heard music continuously playing thanks to the strong signal and extensive coverage.
NOAM NUTV4 produces amazing music quality that is clear and more dynamic than the previously discussed bar.
But no wonder why, these 2-way coaxial 4″ speakers with large like for such small set 1″ neodymium dome tweeters can be really loud.
Speakers are also waterproof, so you do not have to worry about splashing them, or leaving the lawnmower outside during the rain even for a long time.
If you are looking for wireless speakers for a lawnmower, below, you will find excellent options that I also tested and was happy with music quality. They are not as strong as those powered by an external battery, but are still great for electric lawnmowers.
Lawn mower speakers powered by rechargeable battery:
These less powerful, but requiring much less installing effort speakers are amazing when you need speakers to install temporarily and remove them from the lawnmower when the job is done.
AMP CADDY V3 Pro Max
V3 Pro Max is a small portable, water-resistant speaker that can be mounted to any bar or handle in seconds and is powered by an internal 40W amplifier.
Although 40W may not seem like a lot, in reality, it is significant power for such a small speaker.
V3 Pro Max produces outstanding music that, thanks to Bass Boost Resonator, is also very dynamic. Bluetooth range is up to 100 feet, and it keeps the signal within this range. If you are interested in this excellent speaker, click this link to check out the latest price on Amazon.
Placing the speaker on the lawnmower is straightforward. Thanks to a flexible and multi-directional mount attached to any bar with a diameter of between 0.5″ up to 2″.
The speaker has an integrated rechargeable battery that offers a playtime of up to 20 hours that is more than enough, even with the longest mowing days.
AMP CADDY V3 Pro
AMP CADDY V3 Pro speaker is a smaller version of AMP CADDY V3 Pro Max with its all features like Bluetooth, rechargeable battery, durability, and portability. It is also waterproof and can be installed in any position thanks to the flexible mounting device.
Although it has a smaller, only 15W amplifier, it still produces incredible sounds with really deep bass thanks to Bass Boost resonator. It is also cheaper than V3 Pro Max, and if you would like to check the most current price, this link will drive you to Amazon.
If you would like to use more than one AmpCaddy speaker while mowing a lawn, you can pair and operate multiple AmpCaddy speakers with just one phone or media source. Besides, speakers have the option to choose from several EQ settings to match the best of your favorite music style.
The device has a built-in rechargeable battery. Once fully charged, it lasts for up to 20 hours, which means you can go a whole day without worrying about losing power.
The Ampcaddy has a box-shaped compact black body with a front grille. There are multi-function push buttons on one of the side panels, and they are big enough when you use gloves.
JBL CLIP 3
When you do not want to install a powerful soundbar, or you are on the budget but still want to listen to the music while mowing a lawn, JBL created an amazing Bluetooth CLIP 3 speaker that can be attached to any clip or handle. I am using this small speaker not only in the garden, but also while hiking, and is just great. Click this link and check availability on Amazon.
JBL CLIP 3, a portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker, can change lawn mowing time into something really enjoyable. However, because of relatively low power, it is better for quieter electric models.
I would not use it on riding lawn mowers, especially with noise 24 Hp petrol engines, but if you walk while mowing, it is a fantastic speaker. Like other models, pairing with your mobile phone takes a fraction of the second, so you can enjoy listening to the best tracks minutes after unpacking.
Another good thing about it is that Clip 3 is waterproof, which means if you splash it with water from grass or catch rain in the middle of the mowing, you can continue without worrying about damaging the speaker.
Putting sound on aside, I think the best feature for me is the mounting clip. JBL designed a great hands-free solution. You can place it anywhere, and if you do not have anything to attach to on the lawnmower, just stick it to your belt, backpack and enjoy the music.
The battery offers 10 hours of playtime, and it holds energy for that long. I was using this speaker for nearly 11 hours, and it was still playing. Extended time could be down to the fact that the music was not too loud, making battery life even better.
Bluetooth headphones for lawn mowers
It is not always possible to install the speakers on the lawnmower, for example, when machines are loud, or installation of the speakers could require advanced modification, and you want to have a simple, quick solution.
In such cases, you can use noise-canceling headphones with Bluetooth radios. These are a great alternative to the speakers and offer more comfort than listening to music mixed with excess noise coming from the petrol engine.
I love listening to audiobooks, and any headphones I checked myself for lawn mowing are equipped with Bluetooth and radio. Besides, they provide excellent noise protection for your ears.
To choose the best ones, I followed more criteria below:
- Headphones must be light and not too stiff. Bear in mind your head moves, so headphones should not limit your movements.
- Whether you mow a lawn as a daily job or once a week as a hobby, they should be comfortable to wear with full flexibility of headbands and soft padding.
- They must be wireless. You are using both hands while moving a lawn, so forget about using any wired headphones.
- Critical is the noise cancellation level, and the higher the number, the more noise will be reduced. Although silence may not be as crucial for regular headsets, if you want to listen to the music or call someone, you need as much surrounding noise as possible.
Peltor Sport Tactical 500 Smart – best headphones for noise cancellation
These hearing protection headphones with Bluetooth were originally are designed for shooting and hunting, so you can be sure they will do a great job to help with lawn mowing.
They have a noise rating of 26 dB, which is a lot, and what I noticed while using them was a significant reduction in the engine noises, but I am still able to make normal conversation without taking them off.
We can make normal conversation while wearing them thanks to the Clear Voice Tracking Technology system, which balances incoming audio sounds and reduces loud noise while keeping voice noise similar to the original level.
I have been using Peltor for over a year now, and I would not replace it with any different. They are just excellent. Peltor Sport Tactical 500 headphones are available on Amazon, so if you would like to check the most current price, this link will get you there.
The most important function we are interested in is a Bluetooth connection. You can listen to your favorite tracks or answer the calls, thanks to a direct connection with your mobile phone.
I have noticed the fantastic quality of the microphones. The quality of the conversation was really clear, without any noise, and even wind noise was canceled.
Below are the main reasons I chose them to deal with grass in my backyard.
- Great design and comfortable to use with soft foam
- Excellent audio quality with dynamic bass
- Technology that allows listening to the conversation while reducing loud noises
- High, 26 dB noise reduction level
- Bluetooth can synch with a mobile phone within seconds
- Allow to receive and make phone calls through the headset with excellent conversation quality
Mpow HP102A – budget alternative with excellent audio quality and long-lasting battery.
Mpow HP102s headphones are a great option when you are on a budget. Although cheaper than Peltor, they provide comfort thanks to the soft earmuffs and excellent audio quality. In addition to Bluetooth, they have a 3.5mm input port for any external device.
The best I have found is the comfort, there was not any pressure on my ears, so I could really enjoy mowing my grass. That could also be thanks to their lightweight design.
Also battery, which is rechargeable lasts according to the producer, up to 30 hours. I never tried for that long, but with Mpow HP102s, you do not have to think about buying new AA. For me, Mpow has one advantage over Peltor, and this is the type of battery used.
Why are Mpow headphones great for lawn mowing?
- Lightweight makes them extremally comfortable to use for the whole days of use
- High level of 29 dB noise reduction
- Excellent audio quality
- 3.5mm input with included cord allows listening to music from external devices
Lawn moving does not have to be a hard task, and even if you are doing it every day, this task can become a pleasure when listening to nice music.
There are several speakers to choose from, and although the market offer is large, I picked these I tested myself, and I was happy with the music quality they have to offer.
The best one I found for my needs is the AMP CADDY V3 Pro Max, and I am still using it today.
